27th NELTA International Conference, 2023

A 3-day 27th NELTA (Nepal English Language Teachers Association) International Conference -2023 that started at DAV School, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur on 17th February completed with grand success on 19th February, 2023.
The conference witnessed active participation of think tanks, professors, researchers, diplomats and teachers associated with English Language from 22 countries. The theme of NELTA Conference for 2023 was ' Reimagining Language Pedagogy: Wellbeing and Innovation Perspectives'.
Prof. Dr. Tammy Gregersen, (UAE), Prof. Dr. Ram Ashish Giri (Australia), Prof. Dr. Laxman Gnawali (Nepal), Prof. Dr. Sarah Prestridge (Australia), Dr. Tracey Costley (United Kingdom) and Dr. Eleni Pappamihiel (USA) were the key note speakers of 3-day conference. A total of 24 rooms along with Buddha Hall, Jetavan Hall and Indu Hall were equipped with all the innovative ICT tools for featured and concurrent session.
The inauguration of 3-day conference was held in the benign presence of Mayor of Laitpur Metropolitan City Shree Chiri Babu Maharjan, Her Excellency, Felicity Volk, Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia, Prof. (Dr) Abhi Subedi, Prof. Dr. Lav Deo Awasthi and NELTA President- Motikala Subba Dewan including distinguished guests from various Universities around the world. In addition, the participation of diplomatic agencies and embassies of Nepal added elegance and ecstasy to it.
The formal programme started with the welcome speech of Host School, DAV. On behalf of the Principal, Dr. Bhubaneswari Rao, Primary School Co-ordinator Mr. Andrew Fitz Patrick, welcomed esteemed dignitaries, delegates, speakers, guests and sponsors of the grand 27th NELTA International Conference 2023.
The welcome speech of the Principal reads, 'I’m happy, that NELTA has introduced about the theme Reimagining Language Pedagogy: Wellbeing and Innovation Perspectives quite apt to the time. Nevertheless, the prolific flow of thoughts and ideas in this 27th NELTA conference will immensely enrich the experiences of teachers as much as learners in the applied linguistics, especially for English'.
NELTA President Motikala Subba Dewan was all praise to DAV School Management, Teachers, Staff and Volunteers for successful completion of 3-day Conference and expected similar support in upcoming days. DAV has shouldered a challenge to host 3-day face-to-face NELTA Conference that was halted with catastrophic outbreak of Covid from 2019.
On the 2nd Day of Conference, DAV students presented an outstanding cultural programme that included Kumari dance, Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Jhyaure dance. Similarly, the volunteer students, teachers and staff were given the special recognition for generous hospitality and guidance throughout the conference. Some teachers associated with English Department attended a 3-day session.
