1st Inter School Yoga Competition Concludes with Remarkable Success

 DAV School organised the 1st Inter School Yoga Competition with resounding success at its premises on December 23. The event was graced by Dr. Chintamani Gautam, a renowned lifestyle trainer, as the Chief Guest, alongside the Guest of Honour DAV Chairperson, Shree Anil Kedia, who reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to promoting yoga and meditation in school and college education. The esteemed judging panel included Shree Madhusudan Bhetuwal, Founder of BMS Adventures, and Shree Kedarnath Bastakoti, Chairperson of the Federation of Bagmati Province Yoga Sports. The competition attracted participation from six schools: Asia Pacific School, Lalitpur Global Academy School, Modern Indian School (MIS), Rosemary Idol Boarding School, The Chandbagh School, and DAVSKVB School, with a total of 33 students competing across three categories for both boys and girls. The results were as follows: • Under 11 Boys: Pranab Pandey (Modern Indian School) secured first place, followed by Rhydhem Lamichhane (Asia Pacific School) and Shibam Yadav (DAVSKVB School). • Under 11 Girls: Sonam Tamang (Rosemary Idol Boarding School) claimed first place, with Aanchal Mohota (DAVSKVB School) and Manshi Chaudhary (MIS) taking second and third places, respectively. • Under 14 Boys: Satish Gupta (DAVSKVB School) won first place, followed by Babin Shrestha (Asia Pacific School) and Manjil Shakya (MIS). • Under 14 Girls: Pratushya Khatiwoda (Rosemary Idol Boarding School) earned first place, while Navya Mohota (DAVSKVB School) and Shreya Mishra (Lalitpur Global Academy) secured second and third places. • Under 16 Boys: Dev Gharti Magar (DAVSKVB School) achieved first place, followed by Medansh Agrawal (MIS) and Utsav Koirala (Lalitpur Global Academy). • Under 16 Girls: Binisha Pandit (Rosemary Idol Boarding School) took first place, with Siyana Baral (The Chandbagh School) and Sadiva Rijal (MIS) finishing in second and third places. Special awards were presented to Leona Shrestha (DAVSKVB School) as the Best Performer in the Girls’ category and Priyanshu K.C. (The Chandbagh School) as the Best Performer in the Boys’ category. Overall, the Rosemary Idol Boarding School team emerged as the champions, claiming the winning trophy, while DAV School and MIS secured the first and second runner-up trophies, respectively. The winners were honoured with certificates, medals, and trophies by the Chief Guest, Chairperson of DAV School, and Vice-Principal. All participants were also awarded certificates of participation, recognising their commendable efforts. In his address, Dr. Chintamani Gautam lauded the initiative of DAV Chairperson Shree Anil Kedia to provide a platform for young yoga enthusiasts to showcase their skills. He emphasised the importance of holistic education encompassing moral values, discipline, and cultural enrichment, which can be significantly enhanced through yoga and meditation. Dr. Gautam also delivered a brief presentation on the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual disciplines that yoga fosters. Vice-Principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal expressed his commitment to organising the second edition of the competition next year. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests, participating schools, DAV’s Sports Department, and school officials for their collective efforts in ensuring the event’s success. The programme’s emcees, Omraj Jha and Akshya Sah from Grade X, impressed the audience with their engaging presentation. The Sports Head of DAVSKVB School highlighted the competition’s aim of fostering a deeper appreciation of yoga’s performance aspects and its benefits for physical fitness and curative values. Senior School Co-ordinator Mr. Tank Meghji Devji and Senior School Activity In-charge Mr. Tankanath Ghimire provided exemplary hospitality and support, contributing significantly to the success of this milestone event.
