
1st Inter School Taekwondo Championship Completed with Grand Success

The 1st Inter School Taekwondo Championship 2025 concluded with resounding success at Indu Hall on August 9.
The event witnessed spirited participation from 185 players representing 9 different schools, with the championship expertly managed by a dedicated team of 18 jury members, referees, and technical staff.
The competition commenced at 8: 00 a.m. with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, paying homage to the departed souls, the founders of the school, and the Almighty. This solemn ritual was performed by the Head of the Sports Department, Mr. Purnendu Ghosh. The championship was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Hemanta Dangi, Central Member of the Nepal Taekwondo Association, as the Chief Guest, whose presence added dignity and vibrancy to the dynamic sporting atmosphere of DAV School. The winners were honoured by the Chief Guest in the presence of Vice-principal Mr. Ramchandra Khanal and Mr. Ghosh.
In the overall results, Shree Bishnudevi Secondary School secured the championship title with an impressive haul of 14 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. DAV School claimed the second position with 8 gold, 9 silver, and 37 bronze medals. GEMS and Jugal Nawa Gurukul shared third place. GEMS won 6 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze and Jugal Nawa Gurukul won 4 gold, 12 silver and 2 Bronze. Notable individual accolades included Barshika Mahara of Shree Bishnudevi Secondary School, who was named the Best Female Poomsae Player in the Under-12 Individual category; Garima Pun of DAV School, awarded Best Female Kyorugi Player in the Under-23 kg category; Navyam Lama of Bodhi Briksha Secondary School, crowned Best Male Poomsae Player in the Under-10 category; and Aayam Paneru of GEMS, who earned Best Male Kyorugi Player in the Under-72 kg category. Akshunna Rai of DAV School was recognised as the Emerging Player of the Championship.
A wide range of participating schools achieved commendable results in various individual categories across both Poomsae and Kyorugi events. The championship featured competitions in multiple age groups, separately for boys and girls, showcasing the talent and determination of young taekwondo enthusiasts.
The closing ceremony was marked by words of appreciation and encouragement from the Chief Guest and the Vice-principal, who congratulated the winners and lauded the sportsmanship displayed by all participants. Mr. Dangi expressed his delight at witnessing the vibrant sporting spirit at DAV School and extended his best wishes for the continued growth of taekwondo at the institution. He looked forward to an even more remarkable Second Inter School Taekwondo Championship next year.
